This photo album is dedicated to the northern space as a unique world of images, memories, emotions, and cultural meanings. In its visuals, northern nature and urban/rural everyday life are combined into a multilayered artistic narrative about childhood, the past, and the present. The author suggests to view the North as a space of shadows, hints, and hidden connections between landscape, people, and culture.

The photographs for the presented diptychs and triptychs were taken in northern and Arctic cities and settlements at various times. Some photographs are illustrated with anonymous quotes from local residents, collected by the author during her ethnographic expeditions.
