“We skied mostly. All these hills were covered with tracks! Well, there were a lot of pioneers back then. There used to be no forest, it grew here later. Everything was clear, all the hills were kind of bald. We could see each other without leaving the houses”

“We used to ski and sled – on the salaki. That’s what we called a big wooden sledge. Up to six pioneers could ride it at once. It was our favorite pastime in winter”
